Posted on December 10, 2022 by Michael Tyree

Blackjack is one of the few games where you are able to find an advantage over the casino. This is something you can learn and profit from quickly and easily. Before you learn to card count however, you want to be knowledgeable about blackjack basic strategy, the system that all card-counting plans are based upon.

Here we'll introduce you to why card counting works and dispel some common myths.

Card Counting Myths

Before we begin lets dispel two common myths about card counting:

1. Card counters don't memorize every card they've seen dealt from a deck or shoe, and card counting doesn't have to be complicated. In actuality, simple systems can be quite effective. It's the logic the system relies upon, NOT its sophistication which makes a system successful.

2. Card counting also doesn't allow a participant to foresee with certainty what card will be dealt from the deck next. Card counting is only a probability theory NOT a predictive theory.

Once it puts the odds in your favor longer term, short-term losing periods occur for ALL players, so be ready!

Why card counting works

Players using correct blackjack strategy using a card counting system can beat the casinos advantage.

The cause of this is simple. Low cards favor the dealer in blackjack, and large cards favor the player.

Low cards favor the dealer because they help him create winning totals on his hands when he's stiff, (has a 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16 total on his first two cards).

Card Counting Your Edge over the Trader

In casino blackjack, you are able to stand in your stiffs if you need to, but the dealer can't. He has no decision to make but you do, and herein is the benefit.

Rules of the game demand he struck his stiffs no matter how wealthy the deck is in high cards which will bust him.

It's how you have options and he doesn't, which may provide you the advantage in blackjack.

Card Counting Increasing The Probability of Hitting a Blackjack

The large cards favor the player not only because they may bust the dealer when he strikes his stiffs, but since the 10s and Aces create blackjacks.

Although blackjacks are naturally, evenly distributed between the dealer and the player, the important reality is that the participant is paid more (3:2) when he gets a blackjack.

You Don't Need To Count All the Cards

In card counting, you don't need to count the numbers of all the individual card worth to be able to know when you've got an advantage over the casino.

You just have to know when the deck is poor or rich in high cards the cards beneficial to the participant.

Card Counting - You Need To Act On Your Benefit!

Card counting alone can reveal when you've got an edge, but to maximize your gains you will need to change your bet size up once you've got an advantage and down once you don't.

For card counting, to succeed you want to ACT and capitalize on the scenarios which are beneficial to you.

There are lots of diverse methods; some are difficult to master, while others are easier to learn.
